These are the final samples I produced for my Inside/Outside project where I looked at the negative spaces in lace and iron gates for my research.

Inside/Outside Project Initial Research
For our first project this year, we have been given the title Inside/Outside. I have decided to look at the negative (inside) spaces in lace and iron gates for my research. Below are some of the drawings I have done so far.

Astrid Suede Glitter Boots
All I ever seem to blog about is shoes, but I can't help it! These amazing boots are from Topshop and are a much cheaper (although still pretty pricey at £80) imitation of the Miu Miu ones below which would set you back £555!

Accessorize
As soon as it starts to get cold outside, all I can think about is getting home in the evening, putting on my slippers and snuggling up in front of the tv in my pyjamas with a cup of tea.
Being a slight shoe addict, this extends to slippers too, and I am extremely particular about finding ones I like. This year I have had an easy job though after seeing the new selection at Accessorize.
Below are my two favourite pairs, both at £20. I'm not meant to be buying anything until Christmas at the moment, but as it's my birthday next month, I may have to break this and get the reindeers ones to go with my Christmas pyjamas!

Liberty Print for Nike
Once again in a bid to put off writing my dissertation, I have found myself looking at shoes (or in this case trainers). I have wanted a pair of Liberty print Nike's for a while, but I've never really loved any of the prints previously used...until now.
The print was designed as part of a collaboration between the Liberty design team and illustrator Brian Wildsmith for the Autumn 2011 collection, which also featured collaborations with two other children's illustrators David McKee and Lauren Child.
So if anyone would like to buy these for my birthday or christmas, I'm a size three and they're £77...

Loyalty and Blood
One thing I bought at the Brooklyn Flea market was a necklace from Loyalty and Blood. They sell a variety of t-shirts, tote bags and jewellery, all made in their studio in Brooklyn.
At their stall they had a dish with lots of little charms in, so I chose the heart and S initial to put on a chain as shown in the photo below.
Brooklyn Flea Market
Back in April I went to New York for a week. One of my favourite places I went to whilst there, was the Brooklyn Flea Market. It may have taken 4 months, but I've finally got my film developed of some photos I took whilst there and scanned them in, making me want to go back!

Annina Vogel
Using vintage charms, she creates one off pieces like the ones below (my three favourites!)
The pieces don't come cheap though, the ring comes at a pricey £6,500 and the necklaces at £350 each.

ASOS Pepper Peep Toe Mary Jane Platform Court Shoe
I just came across these shoes on ASOS and I think I've fallen in love with them. For £50 I could feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz...not sure I really need to add to my shoe collection right now though (40 pairs!).

Liberty Print Barbour Jacket
This is the Carline Liberty print Beadnell jacket from Barbour. If I had £219 to spend on a jacket, I would definitely buy it. Until then I will just have to dream about it, or win the lottery.

Tracey Emin @ The Hayward Gallery
I went to see the Tracey Emin exhibition at The Hayward Gallery today, and it was amazing. Seeing the vast array of her work, from drawings to videos to textile pieces, was really interesting and left me feeling very inspired.
Below are a few of my favourite pieces of work from the exhibition...

Kissing Booth
I have wanted this poster for ages, and after buying one off Etsy, I finally got it this morning! Now I just need to find a frame for it...

DegreeArt.com
A few weeks ago I entered a competition on DegreeArt.com for the Signature Art Awards 2011. Today I received an email to say they had got my submission and that the finalists would be announced on the 20th June. All the entries will be going up on the website on the 13th June and below you can see my piece in a sneak preview of what to expect!
There were 4 categories to choose from; Photography, Sculpture, Painting, and Mixed Media, of which there will be one winner from each. The winner then gets a years representation by DegreeArt.com.
I entered the mixed media category with the following piece....

Topshop Sizzle Shoes
I recently saw these shoes on Topshop's website and I love them! Pretty pricy at £68, but with 20% off for students at the moment I'm extremely tempted!

Photoshoot numero deux
For the Shapeshift project I also modelled some of my friends outfits for the photography of our exhibition. This was for the work of my fellow stitcher Kate lawson.

Alternative Fashion Show...1 year on
Shapeshift Final Garment
For the Shapeshift project we had to make a garment after developing a fabric technique inspired from our drawings. I produced a series of panels which I then put together to make the dress above.

New York
Over the Easter break, I visited New York for a week. It was amazing and incredibly inspiring, from MoMA to Coney Island. I will definitely be going back in the future, and would love to live there one day!
