More drawings for Carmen Miranda project

Apart from the fruit head dress being associated with Carmen Miranda, I also decided to look at the how she always wore so much jewellery and beads, not just around her neck but covering much of her upper body.
Last year for a fashion project, I produced a beaded top, so I decided to draw from this as further inspiration for my project.

Initial drawings for Carmen Miranda project

For the first lot of drawings I did for my project on Carmen Miranda, I put together a bowl of fruit inspired by the head dress she often wore. Below are the drawings I produced and some photos.

My muse - Carmen Miranda

For my next project, I have to base it on my muse. When first given the brief I really didn't know where to start as I have never really thought about having just one person who inspires me.
After having a brain storm with my Mum (the first person I go to when I need ideas!), I decided to look at Carmen Miranda.
Born in Portugal she moved Brazil as a child. She started of her career as a singer, for over ten years, before she went on to star in a show on Broadway in New York and then went on to star in Hollywood films.
In 1946, she was Hollywoods highest paid entertainer and made a total of 14 films between 1940 and 1953. She was well known for her hat of fruit she often wore, and was nicknamed "the lady in the tutti-frutti hat.".
Below are some images I found that I will take inspiration from for my project.
